rough starts
for a little while now, when i start my car for the first time since a couple of days or hours(usually from one night to the next afternoon), it takes a little while to crank up and run. then when starts, it sounds like it wants to stall, and then goes to normal idling and screeches for a couple of seconds... whats up with my Z?

I'm having a similar prob. only on start ups, but w/o the screeching. Anyone have any ideas, I'm guessing it has something to do w/ the fuel system, like the filter or something, any opinions?

i also notice that it happens only when it is hot outside... would this have anything to do with it? and also, the when the screeching stops, the fan starts to move; like maybe if the belt skips when the fan tries to turn on.

The screeching is caused by loose belts. In order to take the slack out of the water pump belt, you must adjust the tensionerlocated by the alternator. There's a separate tensioner for the power steering belt and the AC belt. I've had probelms adjusting my own PS belt, so I can't advise the easiest way to do it. The other two are very simple.
It only does it when it's hot? Odd. I'm going to say air regulator. It's part of the IACV assembly. Get your ohm meter. Should read 75 ohms

Iv had the same problem with starting up but not with the screeching. I bought some throttle body cleaner and im going to clean them and replace the throttle body positioning sencer. Also what is the IACV and where is it located....im a z noob. Should i go ahead and replace my fuel filter? My car also idles at 2,000 - 800 RPM im hopeing that the throttle body positioning sencer will fix that.
