so the 300zx needs a new gasket for the oil pan.
a guy said he would get the part replace it and cahnge all the oil goodies for 160.
i have never worked on these kind of cars so i just get the part and do it myself or pay this guy to do all of it?
if i should do it, any help on how to?

dude i already told you it's a big job. you're dude's a tard and he's got no idea how to do it. the z's require a VERY specific knowledge base and even the mechanics that specialize on z32's often don't know as much about them as they claim to. you have to do your research about this stuff. there is a ton of good info on here and on tt.net. everything you need actually. so stop talking to people that say they'll change your gasket for $160 and just do the research. you'll need to do this if you want to keep your 32 on the road.

ok, so i did some research and found out how to rplace the oil pan gasket.
i looked and found the rear strip gasket and the front strip gasket for 15.00 each, just needing to know if that sounds right....again, thanks for the help, im doing all the research to avoid these questions. thanks

And I hope you're aware that aside from the front and rear seals, the rest of the oil pan requires RTV liquid gasket.

on that note, why is it that nissan decided to rely so heavily on rtv? it seems to be one of the most problematic aspects of the engine. i came from working on british cars and they really hardly every relied completely on the stuff without having a paper gasket as well.

I've never seen it fail when used properly except after extreme aging. And at that, the only time i've ever seen it fail was on the exhaust valve covers, which is somewhat expected due to the heat of the engine bay.

RTV only fails when it's used improperly (too much or not enough).
