OBD II, ECU, and Conzult packages

Does anyone have any experience with an OBD II-equiped '96 Z32 connecting to a ECU monitoring package such as Conzult? Anyone know of a good ECU for a '96 I have a Jet and have heard that they actually DECREASE performance over the stock ECU! My RWhp was a bit disappointing - about stock, actually - and I'm looking into why.

IMO....Z1 Motorsports has the best performance ECU (ASHSPEC). Contact them. I've heard that the Jet is crap. They sell one for my truck and supposedly it only makes a difference at WOT. No experience with the OBD programs. Z1 sells the Conzult. If I had a laptop, then I'd probably buy it.

I was at Z1's open house this weekend. (BTW - WOW - very nice new show room and garage space, inventory area, etc.)

It was from knocking around there that I heard that the Jet may actually respond more poorly that the stock! That is why I am posting here. I intend to cobble together a Consult-style device that will display what is going on in my ECU so I can better troubleshoot it. Then I'd like to do a side-by-side dyno test of a stock ECU and the Jet. If all goes well, and it is a reach at this point, I'll look into reprogramming the unit myself.

I spoke with Russell (Z1 owner) and they don't have the 96NA chipped yet. Seems that they are waiting on Ash to do that. I'd sure like to see him do one for mine, but I doubt that it will ever happen. Called JWT and they only have one for the 96TT. Guess when the market is only a few hundred units, I can understand the hesitancy. I contacted Stillen to see if they had anything to add. After I hung up, I had to ask my self "And why DID I call Stillen?!?" About as helpful as a ... ;-)

I'm slow, but I'm learning.... Maybe next time I'll get a 95!

IMO, '95 was the best year for the Z32. I think most will agree.

On the contrary, I've read reports that the 93' TT actually has ran the fastest 1/4 mile of all the years. But this could also be because of different drivers, road conditions, etc...the list goes on.

I agree. 95 has newer style injectors with better spray pattern, alot of bugs worked out, electronically controlled hicas, and the variable timing which was later dropped in 96.

'90-'95 had the same HP and torque specs as well as the same gear ratios. Anything that said one year was faster than the next was likely due to external conditions.

maybe not???????

1990 TT curb weight 3414 pounds
1993 TT curb weight 3474 pounds
1996 TT curb weight 3502 pounds

That OBDII, Hicas and airbags did have an effect.

Stillen just sells a rebadged JWT ECU, fyi.
Not that we expected anything less from them.
