First post, just signed up. What's up? Need Advice on my new (old) Z32
I just purchased a 1991 Nissan 300ZX from this kid for $1400. I'm super excited and have been waiting for this for a couple of years. This car doesn't turn on but I was willing to take a chance because the body is in very good shape and still has the original paint (which looks awesome for a 91'). When I went to look at the car today the kid misplaced one of the spark plugs. I tried to fire up the car on 5 cylinders and it turned on briefly. Once I turned it off it didn't go back on. Under the hood there was a couple of leaves but otherwise it doesn't look bad inside.
The car has 137XXX miles and 50k on the automatic transmission (no paperwork) so I'll just take it for what it is.
He told me the mechanic told him that issue is most likely the MAF sensor or Camshaft Position Sensor. The car hasn't been driven/turned on since October 2011.
Let me know if this is the right course of action I should be taking.
1. Drain all the fluids. (definite must obviously)
2. Perform Tune-Up 3. Oil Change (obviously)
4. Test the battery (obviously)
5. Clean terminals
6. Remove & Clean MAF sensor (purchased MAF sensor cleaner at AutoZone)
After these steps are done I'll attempt to turn on the car and troubleshoot accordingly.
Let me know if there's something I should be checking prior to the above. I just want advice being that the car hasn't been on for 4-5 months I know you guys have little to work with but I'm referring to the fact that it hasn't been driven since Oct. 2011.
By the way he also included a center radio trim bezel for the Z. He told me it was RARE. It's basically a BOSE trim and it comes with the speaker. I don't know if it's THAT rare but I plan on changing the head unit anyway so hopefully I can still use the bezel and speaker with the new head unit.
Thanks for reading guys.
