hey guys, i just signed up

what up guys, i just got my first z. its a 1970 240.
i kinda got this car by accident. a customer of mine couldnt pay his bill, so he in trade offered me this.
i am the third owner it has roughly 130k on it.
the original engine was pulled and sold so ive yet to be able to appreciate the l series datsun.
it did come with a roller cam chevy 350
fresh crate motor. 300hp 330tq
as well as a brand new 0 mile GM t5, an open r200 diff and a few boxes of very welled labeled goodies. new dash vents, new hatch vents...etc
ive since got it running with the 350. adapted an s10 clutch slave cylinder, installed the r200. and various other things.
im really excited about it.
i just keep falling more and more in love with this car as time gos on.
here are some pics.

welcome to the forum! i really like the bump we have recieved in traffic recently. i hope it continues! we need to save Zdrive, hopefully like life its in a cycle and by summer will grow back into a community. and 2by2 will leave, i can pray! but that is a great great condition car you got other than the two little areas in the rear. i bet that car barely holds traction, or have you even driven it yet? im not the biggest V8 fan, but i can't argue with results either, and i also admit, im guilty in searching for an LS1 motor with trans to possibly stick in my next Z. haha.

haha, thanks guys.no i havent driven it yet. im waiting on a driveline.
i have it on the lift right now. i installed the R200 and now im gonna do a little reinforcement on the rear suspension components.
there is a some rust. (to be expected)
not bad considering its age. the floor has a little rot on the drivers side but nothing structural so before i even drive it im gonna replace the floors and make my own subframe connectors/x bar.

im not a v8 fan either, unless its something japanese of course.
but i said hey i think its time to branch out and give it a go

thanks again guys
heres some more pics

ill take some of the reinforcement im doing tonight and post them up tomorrow.
thanks for the kind words
mike

what kinda tranny is that? also ever check out JTR stuff, they might make a drive shaft for your needs. if not 500 bucks to get one made. unless you have your sources.

Good looking series 1 . You're gonna love the V8 once you get it on the road. Before you put the driveshaft in, I would recommend changing the front diff mount to a custom one. The V8 will tear the stock rubber piece up. You can wrap the stock mount with wire rope like the JTR manual but thats just a band-aid fix. It will come loose eventually.

haha very interesting. better than some other retarded ways i've seen done where instead of adapting the shifter they adapt the car and have shifters sticking out the side of the tranny tunnels. makes me puke sometimes. a bit tall though no?

ya know i was gonna space the mounting plate up and lengthen the bottom portioon of the rod but ive seen a few t5's meet theyre demise after a short stint with a short shifter.
not to mention i like how close it is to the steering wheel
i took about a half of an inch out of the upper portion and kinked it toward the driver seat a bit.
i like it

Looks like the front mounts are custom and put the weight on the cross member instead of the frame rails. I like it! Can you post a pick of them?
btw welcome to Z driver!
