knock sensor resistor bypass.

i did the ecu diagnostic and i got code 34 for the knock sensor. i know that i need to buy a new one. for now, until i get the money, i need to find a temp. fix. i've been told that i can put a 1000k resistor in line on the ecu side of the harness. i installed the resistor and it did not work. can i get some advice from people that have done this before? that would be great. i've tried to find more info on how to install it correctly but obviously i haven't had any luck. any help would be greatly appreciated.

that didn't work either!!!

thanks for that link. i did that and the resistor mod. then i checked the ecu again and i got code 55 which is supposed to be the everything is okay code. then i came back and checked it again and i got the 34 ks code again. i am at a total loss. does it mean anything if i can unplug the tps plug and nothing happens? do z32's have map sensors? because i had one appear out of nowhere, but i can't find a place for it to plug into. i have to feather the throttle to get the engine to rev and i don't seem to be building any boost. just like 15psi of vacuum. hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction. if not, does anyone know of any reasonably knowledgeable shops around greenville, sc?

that's fairly close to z1.

if the resistor bypass isn't working, it's probably because there is a break in the wire between the ecu and the harness.

If it worked and then didn't, you didn't do something right... perhaps it's loose or you grounded it to metal that isn't completely bare or grounded correctly. If the sensor is completely grounded out, it cannot send a detonation signal to the ECU and thus couldn't put you in safety boost.
