I'd like to be the first to post
Greg Dupree ran 9.94 @ 139.78 mph tonight, according to sources on TwinTurbo.NET. This car is fully interiored (with subs and an amp), with a built engine, auto trans, and JWT Sport 700 turbos. The second I have more details, I'll post them! Congrats to Greg Dupree on being the first street trim 300ZX in the US in the 9's (that I know of at least)!

I'd have to say that he practiced his *** off to get that. The Z hasn't ever been known to do that in Dupree's config. Plus, the Z has never been known to be a great drag car (that explains why it can beat cars that have much better 1/4 times). So, I'd say he is one hell of a drag driver. I already gave him props on another forum, but I'll do it again. Great job Greg.

It all depends on what you design the car to become. Russel focused on power and he did that. He has the highest horsepower Z32 in the country. I dont think russel intended on building a drag car.
BTW..if memory serves me right. I do remember that russel has managed mid to high 10 sec passes already. So he will give Greg's car a pretty good run I believe.

Last I heard, he wasn't running anything better than consistent 11. And even if he's a high 10, a high 10 is a LONG shot from a high 9. It might not seem like a lot, but try getting into the 10's, and then try getting into the 9's... Pure power (Russels car) will NOT run the fastest quarter mile... the powerband is too short and too high up in the RPM's. Comparitively, Gregs car has a super wide powerband. Russels car will not be giving Greg a run for his money unless Greg spots him a full second (and that wouldn't be a race, that'd be Greg making himself feel good).
(if you couldn't figure it out, I have no respect for dyno queens. Anyone can build a car to make an assload of power, but not everyone can build a well balanced supercar. Look at the kilo-horsepower Supras....that run 12's... it's just flat out pointless.)

I agree about the comment about the dyno queens. I like watching them run the dyno. But they are just not streetable. And that goes against my practice of trying to build a car that is such.
