Grinding gears?
hey guys first off im new to the z world i just got a 91 300zx n/a from a trade drives good except for the occational grind going from 3rd to 4th and from 5th to 4th. this doesnt happen everytime i shift but mainly when i am shifting through those areas at higher rpms when im just cruising its fine but when i hit it a little bit harder it will grind. i hop this isnt as bad as im thinking it is any help would be great thanks

It's a chronic problem on earlier Z32's. A 94+ transmission is the only way to remedy the problem... 97+ JSpec transmission (final revision) would be even better.
In the mean time, try Redline MT-90 or MT-L gear lube.

Use a 1/2" breaker bar to remove the plugs on the bottom and passenger's side of the transmission, let drain. Replace plug on bottom and add fluid (via pump or long hose and gravity feed through the engine bay) until it starts dribbling out of the side hole, replace side plug. Done.
And use gloves. Gear lube smells BAD.
