external gated turbo kit???

I am looking to build an engine with between 600-1000 hp (I know huge gap right). I have been checking out all the turbo kits for the 300, but they are all bolt on. I have recently built an mr2 turbo, and I found a turbo kit for it with a tubular manifold, t3/t4 hybrid turbo, down pipe, and an external wastegate vented to the atmosphere. I have been trying to find a similar type of kit for the 300, but no one has one. Am I missing something? Does anyone know of a complete kit that can support at least 600 hp? Do they make a t3/t4 kit, or is it just to large to fit under the hood? Any help would great.
thanks
Rob

I have yet to see a 1k hp Z.
and 600 rwhp is hard to come by. A simple turbo swap will not instantly yield those results. A LOT of other modifications are required to even approach that number.
HKS, Power Enterprises, JWT all make turbo kits that will help get you there. Check out my Link Page for online retailers. Lots sell the turbo kits that you are interested in.
Also be sure to check out the stage chart i have stickied. You'll need most of those mods in order to achieve the numbers you're looking for.

Yea...I know I will have to mod the engine a lot to achieve those numbers. My mr2 had an extensive list of mods...(forged pistons, forged rods, standalone ecu, 550cc injectors, fpr, fuel pump, t3/t4 turbo kit). Its running around 400 horse to the rear wheels. I figured that if a 2 liter four cylinder can hit those numbers then a 3 liter 6 clyinder should pump out even more. I will be extensively modifying the engine, just need to find those turbo's. Thanks for the links, I will definatley give them a try.

There has been a couple 1K hp Zs that I can think of off the top of my head. TD-06 turbos will get you to 600rwhp.

TD-06's will still be sufficient to get you to 600rwhp.

Do they make a tdo6 kit for the 300? Or will I have to fab up manifolds to hold them? Some of the BB bolt on turbos I have seen on coz or some place like that, say they can produce around 700 horse. I just cant believe they wouldnt replace the stock cast manifold with a tubular one. Fast spool, more effiecient..etc.

I can see why no one wants a tubular manifold turbo kit. The manifolds are outrageously priced!!! I am talking to the guy who made my t3/t4 turbo kit (tubular manifold, t3/t4 turbo, downpipe, wastegate, turbo, oil lines) to see if he would be interested in making a kit similar to that one for the 300's. Price may be around 3000 to 4000. Would anybody be interested in a kit like that? I suggested he used tdo6 turbos, or the td05 turbo's. Any suggestions on what you guys would want?

TD06-20G's are good for way more than 600hp. Russel (the owner of Z1 motorsports) is running twin TD06-20G's and something like a 200 shot of nitrous and he made 1051rwhp or something like that

By the way, that kind of power is useless and laggy as hell.

I'd never get turbos larger than TD05-16G's, which would also be able to do over 600hp without rediculous lag (Wagz proved that).

Keep in mind, your MR-2 was a 4 cylinder powering one turbo. This is a Twin Turbo V6, each turbo is powered by 3 cylinders (no talk of single turbo please). The larger you go, the more lag you hit, especially when you consider that three cylinders powering 1 turbo is kinda weak.

I did forget to mention that they would be ball bearing, which should eliminate most of the lag. I believe adding ball bearings is an extra 500 or so, but it would virtually eliminate the lag making them an all around streetable turbo. Would you still go with the tdo5's?

1. someone is feeding you a lot of bullsh*t

2. turbo myths amuse me

3. I wouldn't even go as big as TD05's... I was just saying they could reach your goal. I'm happy with my HKS GT2530's... they're proven for 10's and WAY more streetable than other turbos in their class.

You ahve the HKSs? Very nice! Very expensive as well. As far as the TD-06s, SGP built a motor for a guy in my club (Kwun) and his car does not lag all that much. It's a streetable car to an extent. The only reason it wouldn't be is because it's just go too much power! They built his blcok specifically for those turbos. My point is, those turbos car be made to be streetable.

not by "converting them to ball bearing for $500 each" though... LMAO

And yeah, the GT2530's are nice, but they're also the reason I'll never buy another HKS product. I had one die on me 6 months after first installed, and the other one died on me a couple months ago. I'm back to stock turbos until I can afford a Garrett GT28RS CHRA so I can rebuild the GT2530. (HKS wants $$$$$ for the CHRA, but it's a Garrett GT28RS CHRA with a different compressor wheel [63T vs 62T] and housings, so I'm going to pay the ~$600 for the CHRA and swap the compressor wheel and use the HKS housings). No one has given me a good reason as to why they both failed on me within 2 years, and I KNOW there was no reason for the last one to die. The symptoms are suggesting an oil flow problem, but the turbos were most recently on a FRESHLY REBUILT block and cleared out oil feed lines, so it makes no sense to me. Either way, they'll be back on this winter when I have the engine out again and I'll just hope for the best. If they fail on me again, I'm going with JWT Sport 700's.

no no no... you want the bank account I had 10 months ago right before the rebuild.....

The company I was working for went out of business a couple months ago, so I'm currently unemployed. I'm living off the remains of my account and selling parts off my wrecked red TT. I need a job within the next 2-3 weeks though as I'm starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
