exhaust

does it really matter what kind of exhaust i get i mean there is so many cat back exhaust ranging from $200 to $1200. i mean am i really just paying for a name is there that much difference in hp bust from a greddy or a borla exhaust. i can't tell the difference. if i go with a no name one to save money is my car going to run slower then one that is over $1000 i mean its under the car no one is going to see it. can you tell me what the difference is?

I don't like most catback systems for the z32, plus the ones I do like are $700 for just the mufflers!! I ordered two hooker aerochambers at $65 a piece and ordered a stick of 2.5" tubing and am going to make my own.

Yes, there is a difference.

Cheaper exhausts will have fitment issues (people who have purchased garbage from Megan Racing on ebay, for example, have had to bore out bolt holes to get the exhaust to sit straight), cheaper materials (more likely to rust), and less R&D (less performance).

Best exhausts on the market in terms of quality and performance come from Specialty Z and HKS. Stillen and GReddy exhausts tend to fit well, but the performance is lacking. B&B is flat out garbage in my opinion (they have fitment issues, don't perform well, and the gaskets they give you are cheap crap, but they still manage to charge $1000 for a cat-back). The list goes on. But if you want quality and performance, I already told you where to go (and between HKS and Specialty Z, you can get just about any look, material, and sound that you want).

In general, there are a few sayings that apply to this. "Buy cheap, buy twice." (When your crappy exhaust either falls apart or you get tired of dealing with fitment issues.) And "fast, cheap, reliable... pick two."

well i have to get one, as you all know i been having stalling problem with my car and i hook my car up to the computer and the o2's was not reading. so i had one mechanic look at it and he said that if the o2 are not reading you should replace them. i had some header sitting in my house so i had him throw them on there. well it didn't fix it but any way he said that when he toke the muffle down they sound like maracas. so that was going to be my next project after i fix the stalling which i think its the fuel injectors i found out that the old injectors get clog with the ethanol mix gas. so im upgrading them. but thats my next project.

I think you need to find a good shop and focus on getting the z running right before you throw more and more money into it.

Youve been trying to get it running straight for like 5 or 6 months now and youre obviously getting no where.

Find a good shop and take it to them, find out whats wrong with it or if its even worth keeping and then do whatever major work to it.

They don't get clogged, they rust from the inside out.

Good to see Stealin is still in business. lol

For the record, they are far from the best on the market. They're not the worst either, though... I'd take Stillen long before I bought any of the generic Chinese **** on eBay.

I got mine from Specialty z. It sounds good, there was a noticeable gain but I also did a full exhaust system.

Dont by ebay ****, its garbage.

Aftermarket cat-backs fit both NA and TT. USDM test pipes are not interchangeable, though.
