aiv connector

aiv connector
this connector really needs some attention. the wires leading to it are really brittle and look burnt and the connector is one bump away from falling to pieces. so i was thinking of tracing the wires back away, crimping on new wires, then finding new little crimp clip things and a new plastic connector and getting this thing on there properly. does anyone know where to get those little metal female connector clips and a plastic connector? am i going to have to rig up something creative?

idk about specific in your area but theres places where you can get all the basic electrical supplies, you can also order stuff online. and youl need a special crimper for plug pins just so you know

oh dang the usual wire cutters/crimps won't do it? that sucks. yeah i guess i could check out locally but i had expected these little things to be nissan specific. thanks for the idea though i'll give it a shot next time i go out.

Are you kidding me? Eliminate the AIV's... no joke.

Yet another one of those useless devices... later model Z32's didn't even come with them.

****. i got my terms mixed up. noob.
what i meant is the iacv. i think. the one on the back of the plenum with two connectors on it.
does this plan sound pretty good to remedy the situation.
lol and sorry about the mix up. i haven't been thinking about the car very much lately as i thought it was going to sell but no. no sale.

What plastic part are you talking about? You're connecting wires... strip, crimp male on one end, female on other end... do we need a sex education discussion for you to figure out where I'm going with this?

lol the plastic connector! the part that holds the clip and holds the wires in place! yellow. slots on the side to match up with raised sections on the male end. gets brittle and breaks easily. i'm thinking now though about just replacing this part with tape and some balsa wood. i'll tape up a little box of balsa tightly and put it around the male part of the connection, then wrap tape up to contain the wires. i'll take pictures. i actually think this will hold up better than the plastic type.

... or, do as I would, and just eliminate the connector altogether via female/male spade connectors.
If you insist on having a connector, Auto Zone has various # pin connectors in their electronics aisle, usually. Find one with enough pins and use that.

nah i like the spade connector idea. i guess i'll go buy advanced auto and see what's there that might help me and figure something out. i'm not hooked on connectors. i actually don't like them at all. i just figured it was the only way.
