Z32 Protected Fuel Hose Question
Z32 Protected Fuel Hose Question
Howdy,
New to the forums and owning a Z but both have been fun over the last month. Here we go...
I'm replacing the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel damper because of a leak and ordered new OEM fuel hose from Z performance. I didn't notice until after I placed the order that the fuel hose exiting the fuel damper is a "protected hose" and is sold as a separate piece. My question, instead of spending a load of extra cash on this hose, can I not take the heat shield off the old hose and put it on the new? It slides right off the old one and doesn't seem to have any wear. Or is that hose special in some other way? I'm cheap but not so cheap I'll risk an engine fire.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I never had a problem with regular old fashioned fuel hose in the engine bay. As long as it's not touching anything that can melt the rubber (and that one isn't), it's fine. (Make sure it's fuel injection hose, though [and, needless to say, I recommend high quality name brands]... most of the stuff they sell on the shelf at the auto parts store is carburetor hose.)
