260z Fuel Filler Hose

260z Fuel Filler Hose
I'm trying to do a full up restore on my 74 260z and am having issues removing the fuel filler hose. It seems that I may have to remove the housing that the hose connects into, the housing is held in by three tack welds and some caulking. Any pointers would be appreciated.

The hose can be difficult to remove. Try loosening the gas tank straps to allow the tank to drop a little. Twist the hose to break the bond and work it down. The housing might have more than 3 spot welds. If you need to remove it use a spot weld cutter. You can use Sika flex sealer when replacing it.

whoa there Blue. three welds? should be helt in place on the tank by a very large hose clamp, to the body by three bolts, and to the cap by three more bolts. Pull your interior quarter panel off on the passenger side. you'll see the octopus tank, unbolt the octopus tank and move it out of the way. you should get a clear shot at the filler cap area bolts. the ones connecting to the body i had to drop the tank to get to. (unhook that hose clamp and just drop the tank seperate. drain it first or it could get messy.)
anyway, if you break something or need a replacement fuel tank and filler neck, i've got a spare of both along with the securing straps. they're just taking up space in my storage. cover shipping and they're yours.
Edit: i'm headed to the storage unit today to pick up some parts anyway, so i'll have an look at the fuel tank and connection points to see if i've made a lier out of myself, but i don't remember ever having to remove a spot weld to drop the tank or the filler neck. later i did cut the entire filler area out of the quarter panel, but not before completely removing the tank and neck. Sparks + gasoline fume = not shmores, i'll tell ya that much.

Sorry guys, I'm new to the forum thing. I should have mentioned that there is nothing left in the car, we have removed the gas tank, fuel lines, all suspension and rear end, all interior. It seems like the fuel filler tube can't go down b/c of the lip on the tube itself as in DSC04649.jpg but it cant go up b/c the plug on the right as in DSC04650.jpg.
Thanks for the help.

Okay, now we're on the same page! Remove the plastic connector and squeeze the hose inward and work it out the top hole. Might need to heat it up with a heat lamp but that's the only way out.

i am in agreement with theramz. looks like your filler hose is slightly different than mine. warm it up with a heat lamp, squeeze the tube right below that fitting so that the nipple points down, then just press the nipple down against the hose and work it out of the hole. no big. good luck. and throw a few more pics of the car up. i wouldn't mind gettin a better look see at this car of yours. if you don't mind.

Hopefully you are talking about the plastic inner panel. It is held in with plastic rivets. You push in the little pin in the middle and pry the rivet out. I use Armorall on the hoses to make them slip on easier.
