turbo placement

new to this z forum. but looking into rear turbo mounting, don't know too much about this, other than the lag. has anyone done this, or moved the turbo to a different position. I'm looking to do all custom piping myself. any ideas?

I've only heard of this being done on big V8's. It probably works fairly well with them because they've got the low end torque to manage what I imagine is a substantial increase in turbo lag. I don't think it would be too great with a TT Z32, but maybe if you upgraded to BB turbos of a similar size as stock the efficiency of the turbo could match or outweigh the inefficiency of the new placement. This is all speculation.

Like Rupe said, inefficiency is the biggest issue. How much money do you want to waste?

STS might make a kit?

tguarino, I assume you are wanting to "turbo a non-turbo" engine? Or do you already have a VG30DETT and just want to relocate the turbochargers?

NA to TT. Clip vs Engine swap

As i have been reading through different threads, I have seen many different things about converting a NA to a TT. Many people have said front clip is the way to go, but I'm not afraid of a little work. The NA engine and trany are all working fine, I just want to go faster. It would be no problem pulling the old engine and getting the new one in place, just curious as to how much more is involved in swapping in the tt. this is going to be a father son project. we have worked on cars before, but only muscle cars, so this is our first tuner. Also, can i use my na trans with the tt motor and just upgrade my ecu ( send in old ecu to z1 motorsport). Time is no issue as i have all winter for the project, but my wallet is only so deep. just looking for someone with a more experienced mind to guide me in the right direction. thanks for the help

The n/a to tt swap has been discussed many many many times... like beating a 10 year dead horse. Not trying to be an ***, but feel free to search our forum. TONS of good info here since it's been discussed so much.
