One Month, 1000 mile Report on my neused TT

Yep, it took me that long to figure out how to shift from 1-2 without grinding the gears a bit. This is a completely different car compared with my 89 Z31 turbo. The extremely low setaing position, lack of tilt steering and no ambient temperature display was hard to get used to. But now, I fel confident swinging her almost any way I want and still keep the car under control. This is a very nice car to cruise on the highway!!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny thing is that I find myself cruising mostly at 65 instead of above 70 as I used to do with my Z31. It just feels so good to enjoy the ride as long as possible, and it may also have to do with the price of premium gas. I have also noticed that a lot of people want to race me at stop lights when all I want to do is go along easily!! All in all, the car is great, and once again, thanks everybody for all your help and advice.

Only upgrade for now is a Sony system so I can play my iPod. I have also moved to Mobil-1 on the motor and Redline on the tranny+diff. Yes, it makes a useful difference. The car is actually quieter now - and that makes me wonder what was in there before. Unlike the Z31, there's so much one can do with the Z32. I think the most I'll do is a POP Charger, exhaust and ECU, +17 inchers and rubber to match. That'll keep me busy for a while. Right now, it seems like I'm stuck to the driver's seat 24/7!!!!!!!!!!!!

The REAL limit is $$$ ... not the car.

I have a 90mile/day all highway, no traffic commute to/from work every day - that pretty much explains my mileage and why I opted for the Z32 (other than pure excellent reliability compared with my other more expensive rides!!!!!!!!!!). It's probably the best thing for the car though - no city traffic heating things up. It's really an awesome ride.

Yeah, stick my head out the window and snifffff.. BTW, snw, that's 90 miles, round trip. It's actually not bad at all becasue it's all major highway so the car's cruising at almost optimal conditions, as opposed to stop/go traffic. In my Z32, the front pads were changed three times in over 250K miles and the front rotors once. The rears is another story. That's one advantage of un-city driving.

90s had it without any complications. i did a search on tt.net, and found it might be possible to display ambient on any with some trickery

Man, if you can find that trickery, I'd kiss you.., well, I will e-kiss you. Where I am, it snows a little but freezes a lot. I am used to checking ambient to gage road iciness, just something I do in the winter, thus my need for this feature. Then again, after a few months, I may just get used to not having it at all!!!

You can say you'll stop after intake, exhaust, and ECU all you want... but you won't... no one ever does.

Hell, I once "stopped" at intake, exhaust, and ECU. Now I have GT2530's and supporting mods, in addition to forged internal components waiting to go in a refreshed block sitting in storage.

Shelby's car has the ambient temp. It has always been 5 - 10 degrees (sometimes more) off, and the Auto climate control is a freaken joke. Shelby's high/low buttons are broken so its always on high and it blows in your face. I find it annoying.

i have almost 5k on mine and i've only had it for 4 months. and most of that time, it's been taken apart in the garage! but i also have an almost 90 mile round trip every day. and a lot of trips to the GF's college puts a lot on too.

A note on that ambient display for the electronic display units. Hold down the off and auto buttons for a few seconds and the display will then switch to outside air temp. Tap off to return it to normal.

thats how you turn diagnostics on. I think you just hold the auto button to get amb. temp. (avail in all years, 90-91 had it on all the time, 92+ require you to hold the button.
