NGK Packaged Spark Plugs (Local Parts Store) vs. Dealer OEM
NGK Packaged Spark Plugs (Local Parts Store) vs. Dealer OEM
This question may sound stupid, so forgive me for my ignorance...
The Nissan Dealer OEM Packaged Spark Plugs for an N/A 300ZX are the NGK PFRB6-11...
Would this be any different then buying the NGK Packaged PFR6B-11s from the local auto parts store? (Some dealers use proprietary designs that may in fact be different so I'm curious if this is the case for these plugs)
A follow up question is based on my inquiry at the Parts Store. The store rep said the STANDARD NGK plug for the Z is the PFR5B-11 every Z enthusiasts site and parts supplier seems to contradict that spec. Should I still be asking for the PFR6B-11s regardless of the NGK parts association?
Thanks
Isaac

No offense, man, but they're part numbers... they are unique to a specific part. If the part number is the same, the parts are the same.
As for the stock plug, I'm pretty sure the NA's came with PFR6B-11 because of the higher compression ratio. The TT came with PFR5B-11B, and nobody recommends using them for anything other than stock TT's (if the car is modded to Stage III+, it needs colder plugs, PFR6B or PFR7B). I have seen on no Z enthusiast site mention using PFR5B plugs on an NA. And never believe a parts store over places like TwinTurbo.NET.

Thanks.. I apologize for frustrating you with the question. I know it sounded dumb, it just happens to be I have a local dealer trying to sell me the B.S. that the NGK plug in the store isn't the same, so I had to ask. He wants 12.99a plug while Advanced Auto Parts wants 8.99... So I was double checking.
