..reasons why I had to get out of that business..
seriously, in case there's any questions here's how it works: Modding your body; installing aftermarket parts; swapping motors DOES NOT increase the value of your vehicle (with very very very few exceptions).
I know in a Z forum I shouldn't worry about this but I used to fix kids ricer cars all the time and they seriously think that spending $5,000 on a $1,200 car makes the car worth $6,200 dollars plus labor. Good for them, they learned elementry math in Utah which is a feat in of itself. Too bad that's not the way cars work.
I don't care if the kid has a receipt for every part and every oil change. There's NO receipt to prove everything was installed correctly and that he didn't 'drag race' on the 'vard every friday night.
AFTERMARKET ACCESSORIES DO NOT IMPROVE THE VALUE OF YOUR CAR
They DECREASE the value of your car because now I've gotta spend my time pulling all that crap off and returning it to stock so it will pass safety and emmission inspection.
(Those few exceptions are the rich guys who will pay an extra $15,000 for a classic car because it had fuel injection installed or something.)
Oh and for the record I would pay LESS for a car if the paint job only cost $3,000. Try at least $15,000 and I might trust the work.

Up at Hill eh?
Yeah... the 'vard is about the only thing to do on the weekends up there, and then you're surrounded by Honduhs. Do you go on cruises w/ the ZClub of Utah? I recently got banned from that club because I wanted to make improvements.

the z32 here in my nayborehoodz are selling at z whizz for 2500-6500 depending on quality......and year.....i have yet to see one of those here ffor over 6500 unloess tt----they are selling around 7k-8k depending on quality and year.......there is a blue book for these cars, btw--
yeah the book for the car he's selling at the top is $6,325 retail plus $2,250 for the mileage. I always subtract the mileage bonus unless he has ALL maintenance records (most people just change the oil in their nissans and leave it at that.)
Either way, in absolutely perfect condtions his car i worth less than 9k

you end up with these very surreal like deals happening snw. that is largely not the way that it works. i would attribute your success to having gotten lucky with the original cars that you bought. i've never gotten so lucky. i had about 5k in my midget and sold it for $3500, granted it's never worth what any Z is, and it was still far from perfect. but painting supplies and the new top and new carburetor and all that stuff added up fast. it looked like i wouldn't need much more for it, then something would go wrong and i would need to spend another bunch of money on it. if i had gotten lucky and not had so many surprises, i may have had a situation a little closer to yours
lol snw. i was talking about putting $5k into something WORTH $2k and trying to sell it for $7k. Although there is a sucker born every second...
The system doesn't account for getting good deals. I was offered 10k for my trans-am the day i bought it for 3k, and i know i can get double what i paid for my Z after putting in a $70 stop light sensor.

lol omg.. i looked at it again and realised it was auto
i know guys i was kidding! i made both cars desirable and with minimul money from good purchases, i still feel i coulda gotten closer to 8k for the 280Z though, but i just wanted it gone so i could get a bike and start riding with my buddies lol.
i checked out nada for my car and and says 4325 clean retail. where did you get your 6200 number? i like that one better. is mine that much lower cause it's got 163000 miles? i know everyone says it doesn't matter, but i refuse to believe that rebuilt heads with new valves, fuel injectors, carrier bearing, timing belt and all that other crap doesn't suffice to take a few miles off of the price. this car has way more to go now than it would if it were an all original 163000 mile car.
