Thats the problem with NADA and insurance. If some stupid idiot runs a stop sign and totals your sh*t.. well it's insurance's job to put you back "how you were before the acident" and most of the time your going to get screwed, because i'd like to see you find a Z for 4325 thats worth a damn...
Also, everything you do, take pictures, keep receipts and document it, because if you have something like a TT 2 + 2, vert, slicktop, single turbo, or anything unique that can't just be rebought on the open market, you better have proof so you don't get screwed even more. Like i said, it's insurance's job to put you "how you were before", so if you have a 2 + 2 TT, well they owe you for the labor for installing the motor, parts, etc etc, even if you did the work yourself, they owe you the labor of a shop. Z1 charges what 9 grand for a NA to TT swap including labor and parts, thats what you should ge back, plus the cost of the car. This is assuming that someone else hits you, and you are not liable.
That is my biggest fear when I do rarely bring my Z out of the garage, is that some bozo is going to jack my stuff up, and I'm going to get screwed by progessive, and no longer have a Z, why because NADA, and KBB can't factor in things like "they made more 350z's in the first year of production than they EVER made Z32's", or those type of factors.

Seems like value and worth are tossed around a lot
but, i'm not sure those terms are understood. That first car for 10k in Arizona with 64k miles on it is probably worth around 10k to quite a few people. Most people wont value it at 10k because they know that can get a similar car for a few thousand less. A 2+2 manual, NA, Arizona kept car that has good maint records is probably a pretty good investment for people who like the 300zx but don't really like to work on them. Not everyone who buys these cars wants to tune them.
15k on a paint job? Is that with or without bodywork? After a certain point if you aren't going to show the car and plan to use it to get back and forth to work spending that much is a waste when you can get a very nice paint job for under 5k.
