Anyone know any tricks to remove stripped bolt

Im trying to remove the last 6mm hex bolt out from the top waterpipe. The inside is stripped and its a real tight spot. I tried hammering a 7mm but thats not working. Only other thing i could think of is getting one of those gator grip things. Any info would be must appreciated

Is it the hex that is stripped or the threads? If it's the hex, your best bet is to get the gator-grip, or whatever. Have you tried any inch-size sockets?

8mm hex is approx. .320". You might try a 5/16" socket which is .312"

its a circilar bolt and the hex pattern in the middle is stripped. I did try but since its circular nothing is working. Im heading down to home cheapo later and buy the gator grip and see if that works.

Vice grips are one option. If you can't get grip on the head then grind two opposite sides of the head flat so you can grip it with a wrench. Give it a couple whacks to try to break it loose before trying to get it out again.

Doh, I was trying to remember where the 6mm came in at. It's a hex wrench. Sorry..... senility. Try tapping in a 1/4" hex wrench.

Also, if you have a heat gun, hair dryer, or halogen light, try getting one of them up close to the bolts for a while to heat it up. The bolts are Loctited in and some heat will help soften up the Loctite.

Don't forget to spray some PB blaster (penetrating lube) to loosen up the locktite. it;s non flamable so don' be scared to heat it up afterwards.
