2 paths, same end, need advice

Hello this is my first post and I am new member. I currently own a Z32 N/A.
I am hoping for some advice here.
I have a chance to buy a TT engine (no ecu nor trans) for $500 with a dead cylinder. the man I am buying this off of has no idea what a vg30dett is.
It does seem to have a really nasty tick from the top end I am pretty sure it is a collapsed lifter.
Also I do need to point out i have rebuilt engine in the past , just not a vg30dett.
on the other had i can wait and just get a JDM TT swap and not have to worry about the rebuild for now. Btw if I rebuild I am getting new pistons, gaskets, etc.
So my main question is what would you do if this was you? and what are common issues with a dead cylinder other than the basics (I.E. not engough air/no spark etc.) on this engine.

Either way you will be spending about the same. Because the JDM wiring harness will not fit in a LHD car. And sometimes the turbos may need rebuilt. it just depends on how lucky you are. tho it does normally come with the ECU.

As for trans you can use an N/A Manual trans on a TT engine. Just used the N/A clutch and flywheel.

I'm currently repairing a poorly done JDM TT Swap and Buy the front clip! You need all the intake piping, intercoolers, and some turbo parts.
