1990 z32 2+2 n/a has sat for 6 years...
Ok, bought this 1990 2+2 n/a from a chick that only put 1500 miles on the car since 2006. Apparently i overlooked the oil change sticker that showed this nice piece of information. I fixed the a/c blower motor found a ton of loose bolts, and hose clamps. Everything works on the car.
Here's my question:
I have not changed the oil yet and only drove it home. It runs fine. Accept the oil pressure won't go past 20psi. Is this because of the old oil, maybe settling down into the filter clogging oil pathways? I noticed lots of oil resedue on the oil pan and transmission, yet the car has not dropped a single tear of oil yet. Will just changing the oil be enough or should i flush it with some kind of oil flush and then change the oil? I've had bad experiences with oil flush causing leaks like a mother f. Car had no lifter noise when i test drove it. But when i got it home after about a 12 mile drive the lifters started tappin like a honda. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Only reason i haven't changed the oil yet is because i don't have the cash yet, waitin on the ol paycheck. I'm not an idiot
BTW:
If anyone lives near Knoxville, TN and has a stock stereo setup, hatch struts, front driver leather seat, rear seat backrest, and or stock carpet in good condition for the back hatch cargo area let me know. Could trade or buy the stuff.

Change the Oil, because it has Acids in it from Combustion Gasses.. It's eating parts of the Engine..
Change the Oil Pressure Sender.. Under the Exhaust Manifold on the Right Side.. 20 PSI is no good.. Change the Sender to make sure that is really what you have.. as the Senders go bad..
You can Change the bearings with the Engine is the Car.. I did the Mains and Rods In 8 Hours on my back in the Driveway.. I do not recommend YOU do it unless you have done engine work before.. but a shop can do it..
20 PSI COULD be the Cam Rattle also.. the Hyd Lifters need oil to keep the 'Space' full.. of the Oil runs low they will bang.. ( I Know this!! )

Fixed both oil pressure and lifter noise
Today I drained that old dirty soup some quick lube put in 6 years ago
10-30 traditional oil. Filled er up with mobil 1 0w-40 and a mobile 1 filter. removed about 5 1/2 quarts of that **** oil too, someone over filled it by a quart. As a result of putting the good stuff in her, she no longer has lifter noise. The mobile 1 also cured the oil pressure issue i was having, the lady z runs at about 15 or so idle and 50-60 @ 3-4k. Changed spark plugs from wally world spark plugs to ngk plats..
Also, some jackass, probably the same guy who had the heart to put the crap "great value" walmart oil in her, threaded one of the spark plugs, the rear right one, so far passed the limit i had to us a 3 ft cheater and an hour of inching it out, with pen oil and all. Car runs like a bat out of hell and quite smooth now. Thanks for the post, i just read it.
