Hey guys it's been awhile since I've been on here but I know they're alot of knowledgable people on here. So here's my problem...

When I'm driving sometimes my car just shuts off. I seems to mainly happened when I make turns or when I slow down.


GIVE ME SOME ADVICE.

 

loose ground? or poor ground somewhere?

 

Check the codes on your car or take a look at the PTU...or at least check your charging system.

 

I figured it was a fuel problem but if it were that it wouldn't just shut down, it would more like putt-putt out. So I had the battery checked and reinforce the tie down but now it does it more than before.

How can I test the ground or check my electrical shortage?

im a 240z guy but for an ELECTRICAL proble it does'nt matterwhat care u got... most likely its a RELAY you ignition relay can be doing that on my 280z i had that happened REALLY annoying. it ended up being a RELAY that was doing a false connection meaning ( it connected then when somthing moved the car like a BUMP or a hole on the road it lost the connection.

 

bump! also sorry i forgot this one.. it could be a bad COIL... NO SPARK NO RUNNING ENGINE! make shure your coil and distrubuitor connections are good and clean

 

sounds electrical to me. Have your alternator tested at autozone or some place that checks em free.

 

take your car to autozone or any place that does free alternator testing.

 

I didi that once, they could not test it. It was too hard to get at.; just remove it and then have them test it. It will save you a trip to autozone and well u might have to work a littel harder though.

 

My car had a similiar problem, the clasp on the battery terminal corroded and split, still clasping it and would sometimes jump or rattle about, turning the car off completely.

 

ok... take your alternator either in the car or not on it to auto zone and get it tested...

 

Your clasp holding onto your battery terminal maybe corroded, and when certain amounts of vibrations, or battery movement (when slowing down, or turning) the clasp disconnects from the terminal briefly and turns your car off. This happened to me for couple days before i figured it out...

Check the main ground located at the firewall at the back of the battery. The ground runs from the battery to the firewall....this often gets corroded.

does that mena you solved the problem? or are you just saying thankyou? and if you solved what was the culprit?

 

those strap type clamps on the battery they put on the cars are prone to snapping because they are easy to overtorque. Usually they don't snap all the way just enough so you get poor connectivity. I'd inspect both ends of the main battery cables (positive and negative) before you get into anything exotic.
