Front Brake rotors
Front Brake rotors
Ok, so on to my next issue
... My front rotors are a bit warped (Thus causing a shaking in the steeringwheel upon mild braking at low speeds)... and Im looking to replace them, I managed to get my hands on a new pair for real cheap (stock, but new) ... and after purchasing noticed they were for the post 7/90 manufactured z32 n/a's and all the z32 turbo's... My car was manufactured Dec of 89, so I'm guessing these wont work? is this true? and if so whats the difference?... (Had the local nissan dealer look up my vin # to see if my car fell into the correct manufacture range)...

pre-7/90 NA's had thinner rotors and calipers (280mm x 26mm rotor vs. 280mm x 30mm). I'd actually advise you to get the revised iron calipers if you already have the rotors... your braking will improve slightly as the wider rotors don't warp as easily and the iron calipers will dissipate heat faster. (That is, of course, if brakes are a high priority for you... otherwise, just find some of the thinner rotors.)

sweet, new calipers sounds good to me... (may as well, dont want them to warp again)... so I guess I should find calipers off a 93-96 then

hmm, mabye I should just go with something like this...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-26MM-300ZX-X-Drilled-Slotted-Rotors-Front-Pair_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33564QQitemZ802807 8042QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
then sell the pair I just got for as cheap as I got to someone with 30mm calipers
oh and one more question... are the brake pads interchangeable? or are they different depending on if you have the 26mm or the 30mm? I would guess they are they same but just wanted to make sure.

And as for the things you're looking at... I'd go with the 30mm calipers. I do not recommend buying vital performance parts (i.e. engine parts and brakes) off eBay (used OEM parts are ok). There are also many reasons I could give as to why you shouldn't be buying cheap cross-drilled and/or slotted rotors, but I'm too lazy to type it all up, so here's a link to where I discussed it elsewhere (scroll down about halfway, look for my name)

I researched into changing my front rotors to the 30mm calibers and discovered that you can buy OEM rebuilt 30mm calibers from Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA, etc. for about $90 each. At least these have a warranty. Thought you might want to know. Hope that it helps.
I thought about mentioning that... then I remembered reading this a few days ago...

as he says, there have been success stories, but I'd honestly recommend that he gets some used ones and rebuilds them himself - at least then he knows what he's getting with them.

bad habit of mine, but I think im just gonna hold out until I can get my hands on a decent set of used 93-96 calipers and rebuild them...
