Driveshaft swap
If any of you remember a couple of months ago Precision Shaft Technologies was doing a group buy on one piece driveshafts for the Z32. Well I took them up on this offer and ordered one in carbon fiber. I must say it is one of the most noticeable mods that I have done to the car and is worth it. Here is why launches and acceleration is unbelievable, instead of spinnig tires or the sluggish feel on acceleration it just takes off no hesitation as with the 2 piece shaft. Rpm drops are only 1000 rpm's when shifting so I stay more in the powerband. I also noticed a increase in fuel economy when driving like a normal human being instead of a bat out of hell. Plus there is a more balanced feel while going thru the twisties or even just going in a straght line. Now this is what I was swapping from, a 2 piece drive shaft connected to a Cedric tranny which is a luxury sedan over here with a VG30DE or DET engine in it depending options. Granted the Cedric tranny had more low end torque or at least it felt like it. But it kept breaking on me couldn't handle the HP and torque of the VG30DETT. Trust me it wasn't my driving either been with sticks ever since I got my licsense (12yrs). The Cedric tranny also is smaller in size compared to the Z's tranny. Well anyway I swapped back to a Z tranny and put the one piece in. It is well worth it and I would suggest it to anyone who can afford to do it including our Automatic brethren. Oh I only paid 650 for it on a group buy. And swapping it should be easy for any Do-it-yourself type person.
