88 auto.... its got 124k....
for starters. first gear doesnt shift around till about 4 1/2 grand or greater unless i go super slow.... but it does shift through all of its gears. when i floor it it slips....and it doesnt like to switch from first to second gear. but after that it switches into all other gears perfect if its floored.... 1 works but when i put it into 2 manually it doesnt shift but there is power just hardly any

so im pretty much thinking im gonna have to get a rebuild cause i dont want to swap the tranny cause im trying to keep it the way i got it....
Or could possibly draining the fluid cleaning the filter and a new gasket save it cause i dont know if the car has ever even had that done. so yeah some help would be good and if i need a rebuild how much does that bill usually run up to.

 

Check tranny fluid level before jumping to conclusions.
