Replaced starter now loud clicking no start

I have beeb having trouble starting my 88 300zx for the past couple weeks. It would take anywhere from 1 to about 10 tries to start. I get a loud click and it would not turn over. After a few tries it was fine. I went out about a week ago and just the click and no start at all. I replaced the starter myself and it was fine for 2 days and then the click happened once or twice again. Today I tried to start it and I got a loud buzzing sound from my fuse box and starter now makes a really loud clicking noise. I am getting full battery power, but it doesn't even try to turn over - just clicking and buzzing. HELP - this is my only car and I use it a lot for my job during the course of the day.

Lemme guess... you got a reman from Autozone?

Give the starter solenoid a tap w/ a hammer or something hard, then give it another start.

autozone and kragen are known to have defective starters and alternators you should have them test it out it's what 3 bolts and one wire take it off take it back and have them test it it might be bad but what do i know i haven't ever had to change the alt or starter on my 88 turbo.

I have rebuilt a few starters and all of them have had the same symptoms as you describe. It will click but not start.

Either there's not enough voltage/current getting to the starter, the solenoid is jammed or the solenoid itself is bad.

Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good.

Also check and see if the engine ground is bolted up. if you just put the starter in the ground probably would have been on one of the starter bolts going through the transmission housing. Did you put it back???

Check and see if the starter is installed right? Is it jammed at a angle? It has a flange that should be firmly seated.

Just some ideas.
