No crank on 89 n/a automatic
No crank on 89 n/a automatic
I recently bought this car and it made it home alright(had some issues with the fuel pump that the previous owner wired to a reserve fuel cell in the hatch area). I pulled it into my garage and took the hood off to dig into some cleaning. Tried starting it to let my brother hear the engine and it won’t crank. I get power to all the lights and hear a click somewhere in the cabin, but no sounds from the engine bay. I can turn a wrench, but I’m horrible at troubleshooting. Any help would much appreciated.
Check the battery connections for corrosion. Check both ends of the positive and negative battery wires. A bad connection will let enough juice through for lights but not enough to spin the engine. Get a voltmeter and check the battery. It should be over 12 volts. A bad battery or less than 12V at the battery will let enough juice through for lights but maybe not enough to spin the engine.
