I have a 86z31t (2+2), I the fuel pump will turn on when you first turn on the ignition, Then when the car keeps turning over the pump, the pump will not keep the pressure up (use fuel pressure gauge). The car will only run for a few seconds then die. I am at a loss on what the issue could be?

 

possibly the fuel pump relay is bad. You could bypass everything and hot wire to the pump itself. if fuel pressure is maintained and the car runs then you need to start diagnosing the circuits that energize the pump normally.

 

Thank you Rogerz, I did not think of strait wiring it to see if the presser is maintained.

 

I'm in the process of getting a new fuel pump in my 86t, does my car have a fuel pump relay? I looked in the manual and this forum and can't find the answer. Thanks for your expert advice.
