FMIC on my '85 turbo?
i own a 1985 300zx turbo and would like to know if front mount coolers are possible to fit onto them. i have asked around and have been told that the coolers off a twin turbo supra can be fitted on is this true or not any info would be appreciated.

first of all, you posted this in the wrong place. start a new thread for new questions, and make sure the topic matches. this has nothing to do with short throw shifters.
o.k. now to your question. yes, you can mount a FMIC on the z31. the supra IC you are thinking of is the one off the single turbo MK III supras, not the twin turbo. i have also heard of people using saab ICs, and mitsubishi starion/chrysler conquest ICs. i believe HKS did manufacture a kit to intercool the z31, but it was rather expensive and is no longer in production. unless you can find the HKS kit, it will require a good deal of fabrication to do this, and unless you are trying to run a ton of boost, its probably unnecessary. plenty of people get good HP from the vg30et without an IC. if you want to do this just so you can say "ive got a FMIC" dont waste your time or money. thats just stupid. if, on the other hand, you want to build a high HP high boost z31, i would initially spend money making sure the motor is in tip top shape before anything else.

Umm.... No. The IC he's been told about is from the MKIV (or twin turbo) Supra. It's a very common modification just because a lot of MKIV owners upgrade their ICs and let the old IC go for cheap. The MKIII IC is not nearly as good.

Entropy31....get ur facts straight...its the mkiv supra intercooler...originally a sidemount that is made into a front mount on our cars...the mk3 supra intercooler is the biggest piece of crap around.....conquest/starion IC are alright but arent very good...the only 2 good OEM I/C are the mk4 supra and the NPR diesel truck....otherwise go with a spearco/HKS/GReddy
