Engine Missing

I have a problem. My 84 z31 na is missing and i cant figure it out.
The plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, coil pack are all new but every time i touch one of the wires it shocks me. Thats bad wires right?

did you replace the plugs with new ones? did you put the right wire on the right plug?

Well, you dont have any goofy friends that live near by do you? Because one time I was messing with my friend, and I switched around his plug wires overnight on his f150, and he never figured out what was wrong with it until I told him.

i changed my mind on the plug wire thing until i get paid monday. Besides, they are only a few months old and i dont want to have to spend $50 if i dont have to. I checked them over again and they look fine. I dont understand. Am i missing something, is there something i should be checking and am not?

Well, I still dont know why it is shocking your finger, it should never do that, unless you have an ignition system that is FAR from stock.

I had... some what... the same thing... check the screw under the rotor... that holds the rotor part to the hall plate and if it comes loss the hall plate can move all over... for a fast check, just take the cap off and see if the rotor can turn back in forth more than a 1/2 in...

The coil is new as well.
i found out why it was shocking me, the boot on the plug wire was pushed up way too high and the wire itself wasnt all the way in the distributor cap, so i fixed that and it is still missing, though its not shocking me any more. I think it is the injectors because a few of them are ticking and someone told me when they tick they are starting to go bad. It is starting to hesitate as well, but only when i push the gass kind of hard. One other thing i noticed, on all the cars i have had in the past, if they were missing (because of plugs, or wires, or something like that) the exuast would smell really rich, but it doesnt while this car is missing. I just ran out and checked the rotor and it moves no where near a 1/2 inch but it does move but only about 1/16 in

If the car can make it, take it to AutoZone or some parts store, and they will do a computerized diagnostics check for free. Maybe they can tell whats wrong with it?

Z31 doesn't have a dataport for those type of codes.

your wires don't have any cut or tears in the insulation do they because we've ran into that problem before that the spark was shorting to the valve cover instead of firing the spark plug. have you ran a compression check? all your injectors should tick thats the sound of the solenoids opening and closing. however you can get a noid light and plug it into the injector wiring harness and check to make sure the injectors are actually firing.

Go get an engine stethoscope, those things come in really handy in cases like this, it may be able to help you.

The wires are fine, I checked over them when it first started missing. I haven't checked the compression yet, im going to do that today. On an 84 na, what psi should the compression be around?
