86 300ZX Electrical Problem

I have an 86 300zx, I purchased car without the interior put together, but I had all the parts. I put the dash together, and the gauges do not come on (analog-tack, oil pressure, temp, etc.) The head lights also do not come on, but if I jump power to the lights they work. Any ideas? All plugs in the harness are plugged in. Possibly the computer?

Welcome to ZDriver!

Have you checked the fusible links & fuses?

If you haven't done so yet, buy the Haynes manual or download the FSM from www.xenonz31.com/reference

On the right side of the engine under the plenum there is a single wire sensor. Take the wire off of that sensor and apply a ground to it (touch it to the engine), and see if the temp gauge moves to full hot. Only reason I say this is because all my sensors were bad when I got the car.
