1987 Z31 NA runs rich for a few minutes after hot start
Hello all!
I just acquired an NA 1987 300zx 5spd. It has an issue that I’m a little confused on because I’m so new to Z’s.
When it cold starts, it doesn’t fire right up, rather stumbles alive then runs fine. After I drive it for a while, shut it off, then start it again, it runs really rough and misfires like it’s really rich. The exhaust also stinks like unburned fuel.
The temp gauge doesn’t work, I scanned the ECU for codes and got none. I thought maybe bad temp sensor but from what I have read, the ECU and temp gauge get data from different sources. Now I’m leaning more toward leaky injector possibly. Going to pull plugs tomorrow morning and see if one is particularly fouled.
Any hints here? Thanks so much in advance!!

Update: I removed and tested my MAF and it tested out of spec. I also tested my CHTS and it was dead, so I ordered a new MAF from rockauto and ordered a CHTS for a 1995 Pathfinder along with a new CHTS harness so that I could do the CHTS relocation.
So far, so good! The issues have been (mostly) resolved. It still runs a tad rich, but I just found an unplugged and bad oxygen sensor yesterday which explains the rich running tendencies. I ordered a new sensor today which (hopefully) will have this Z running great!
