Z31 waving headlamps

1986 z31 2+2 turbo JDM.so if you push retract switch, lights go up and stay up.Headlamps not on)push retract button again headlamps go down and stay down.flash headlamps, head lights work but stay down.Turn headlamps on,and the lights work on all beams, but headlamps go up and down constantly.disconnect the 2 wires at light switch, they stay down with lights on,or off.So far, cleaned headlamp switch contacts, replaced timer, hea
dlamp relays.tried changing both relays at motors.cleaned retract switch contacts. There is no headlamp sensor or uphold relay,(no wiring on either side of chassis rails where fsm says the should be,pulled wiring harness and no facility for a relay(ie no socket for relay or sensor to plug in.Vehicle had been stored for 20 years,i dont know wether it had the fault before starting a restoration project on it.wiring connections under dash all clean and tight.picking it may be a fault in retract switch?i thought most likely uphold relay but no where to found, and would the hold up on retract work without it?any suggestion anybody?

Here's the answer? I'll save you the trouble: the poster reports the problem stemmed from a wiring harness that wasn't fully plugged in.
On a similar note, I put the wrong relay back in my 928 after doing some work. Yup. it was a flasher relay...same shape, similar number, and I'm a dummy.
