first off , yes i should search this info , but im stuck in a parking lot waiting for the tow truck..

got my 87 zx problem is it wont go into reverse or 5th ..

my question is , will the throw out bearing cause this ? because mine has been a tad noisy , which i planned on changing out this weekend .

or is it a shift fork ?

please someone make my day and tell me that p.o.s throw out bearing is the problem ..

Have you checked the clutch master fluid level???

 

yes , fluid is at its correct level.

 

Might be hard to do in the dark, but if there is enough light, kneel on the ground at the drivers door & push the clutch pedal w/ your right hand, and look at the slave cylinder to make sure it's moving (~1"). If it is, then it's probably the bearing or clutch, or internal trans problems. If it isn't moving, bleed the system.

 

tried it and the slave cylinder does move its full travel.

it does move in reverse now , but only a little.
so now im thinking its clutch problems? but the thing that troubles me on that is all my other gears go in fine and act fine accept 5th and reverse.

im truely stummped on this situation.
