Tonneau Covers Z31

Hi there I recently purchased a 1987 Z31 NA on Bringatrailer . 87 300ZX BAT . The vehicle came with these below but I do not see where they attach in the rear hatch since there does not appear to be any mounting points. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I believe the cover came with the leather package or turbo package. I have an 85T GL with leather and I have the cover. The main difference is in the rear strut tower trim plastic. It is different by the speakers to allow attaching the covers. You would need a different set of rear trim to put in the cover. And the picture you show does not have the retractable part of the cover.

Good source of Z31 info..

Your can shock towers do not have the slots for the cover.

Page 5-21 of the 1984 300ZX Owner’s Manual shows where the tonneau cover and shelf mount to the car. The tonneau cover consists of two separate parts. One is a shelf with a curtain like side. The other part is a retractable window shade. You need both parts if you want to hide what’s in the hatch completely. With the shelf and curtain only, contents in the hatch can’t be seen looking in through the door windows. Without a retractable window shade, contents stored in the hatch can be seen by looking in through the hatch’s window.

Nissan tweaked what was offered as standard equipment and extra cost accessories over the z31 production years. For 1984 which is the model that I have, only the GLL (digital instrumentation) model came with the tonneau cover as standard equipment. The GL (analog instrumentation) model did not.
