Squeel
Re: Squeel
squeel?...you mean that loud hissing sound after pressing on the gas pedal? yeah thats some high quality turbo..if you have a turbo..you can focus on upgrading your turbo, probably get a external wastegate system..some BOV...i dont know the structure of the vg30et engine..but my only guess to get that sound would be by cranking up the boost.

Yea it's the BOV. My understanding of a BOV is to release any back pressure in the intake pipe from the turbo to the TB to keep the turbo spinng.I am plannig on putting on a spearco intercooler next spring and it will have a BOV. I just don't know if it goes closer to the turbo or the TB. I think that all they are is a valve that only opens one way. So what I'm trying to say is I really don't know for sure. also I seem some around $120 and Blitz sells them. On the Z you would probally have to ge a different pipe coming fom the turbo to the TB (preferably a stinless pipe), weld on a nut that fits the BOV and skrew in the BOV. I THINK. If I am wrong somebody please steer my the correct way

Re: Squeel
A BOV generally does the following;
. When the throttle on a turbo car is suddenly closed (from a high boost situation), the pressurized air must go somewhere, without a bypass valve is travels backwards to the compressor and the backpressure might stall the compressor blades. This puts undue stress on the turbo (imaging going from 100,000rpm to zilch in 1 second flat!) and kills the boost response. The compressor bypass valve will allow air to travel in one direction, but when the pressure is reversed, the valve opens and lets the high-pressure air out the valve. Of course this makes a really loud, high pitched scream. It sounds great and scares the hell out of pedestrians and motorist. It also keeps the compressor spinning, allowing the boost to build quicker when the throttle is reopened.

I have a couple of .wav files here. One is real and the other is one of those ricer things. I think they play them through the stereo to make people think they have a turbo...

Re: Squeel
I heard that you could actually buy a FAKE BOV for all that have NA's, actually makes the sound through a speaker, I think it was in SCC mag....lol
Re: Squeel
lol when my sister had her plymouth (pos) anyways the speakers were pickin up engine noise and transmited it into this high pitch signal lol so whenever u steped on the gas it would make this high pitched noise lol........funny.........lowe ur wav files lol
