Went out yesterday afternoon and my driver side mirror glass is shattered all over my driveway. No evidence of anyone messing with the car. Wonder if the adhesive just gave up. Anyone had this happen?

Ebay has replacement glass for $11 shipped, so not a big thing, but I'm trying to decide if I should be giving neighborhood kids the hairy eyeball, or if it fell off all by itself.

 

it is heat sensitive adhesive so if parked in the sun on a hot day it is possible to fall out. Mesa AZ probably not the coolest spot in the country now. Better the glass then some moron in a dodge ram pickup slamming his door into it and breaking the shell

 

I always glue the mirror with silicon to avoid that situation.In your case 99% heat related issue.

 

There's still some glue remaining on the mounting surface. What do you guys recommend using to get that off and clean so the new glass can be mounted?

Hoping I can do this with the mirror still on the car. Don't feel like pulling door panels. It's hard on them.
