Removing the Driver's Side Lock

First of all, I have now read two different sources for the location of the code, the driver's side and the passenger side. I did find a number on the driver's side cylinder but it was extremely difficult to read and required magnification AND did not result in a workable key.

So, to remover the lock cylinder:
1. Take out the plugs on the door panel. Use a light to warm them and they come out very easily. (Not LED light. It doesn't provide enough heat). Remove the screws using Phillips head screw driver.
2. Remove the screw holding the latch in place (Phillips screw driver)
3. I'm working from memory here but believe that is all the screws you have to remove to get the panel off.
4. Using some kind of wedge (a claw hammer worked) elevate the panel.
5. Lift the panel up to expose the moisture barrier and the bare door.
Now comes the real challenge, getting the lock cylinder out.
1. There are two nuts and a Phillips head screw. You cannot get the Phillips head screw out until you remove the two nuts. They are 10 mm and what worked for me (my lock smith, actually) was an open end wrench with a ratchet on the opposite end. Interestingly, only one twist with the wrench was needed to get the nuts to finger loose.
2. Once the two nuts are off you can move the latch so that a Phillips head can be put on the little screw. You will drop nuts and screws into the door. Use a magnet to get them out.
3. You will have to move one or more of the door latch rods and a bronze colored strap.

I will put up a picture showing the holes to use.
