Mpg

What are you guys getting for mpgs I did the math the other day and am not very impressed at all... I got 324 miles out of just under 18 gallons?? I thought a 6cyl would get better and especially since it's turbo and Probly under 300lbs

I bet it weighs more than 300lbs.

18mpg isn't horrible if you're having a hard time keeping your right foot out of it. Which, judging by your other posts, is true.

Amazing that you found a 6 year old thread about street racing, but couldn't find any of the half dozen or so recent MPG related threads.

MPG depends on many factors:
-Are your tires at the proper pressure?
-Is the oil clean?
-Are you driving conservatively or aggressively?
-Has the motor received a tune up recently? (worn plugs, wires, cap/rotor, dirty air filter, dirty oil... all affect performance & mpg).

Why do you think that a turbo model will get BETTER mpgs?

27 mpg

Mine is an 84 non turbo, last time I took it on a long trip I got 27.8 mpg, around town, when I'm having fun it drops to about 24, I'm very happy with my mpg, and a 19 gallon tank, and I rarely get below 1/4 tank, but when I do I love the 2nd gas gauge that covers the last 1/4 tank and like NismoPick mention, a properly tuned and maintained car does much better.

Lol meant 3000lbs of course... And that was a mix of city and highway driving. And also I actually baby my cars until I feel the need to go fast so I wasn't driving it like I stole it or nothing. I figured it should have been better which it seems you guys are getting better than me

Really? "max'ing" the speedo isn't "babying" it, nor will that get you good mpg.

I like my 300 but I would not recommend trying to race a muscle car in a strait line unless you have alot of stuff done to it
