My n/a Z started making a very loud sound like air building up when i get to 2000 rpm. the higher the rpm the louder it gets. if i push in the clutch or let off the gas it quiets back down. I looked around under the hood but saw nothing that sent up a red flag. everything intake related seems fine and tight. it feels like a hurricane if your head is under the hood and you press the gas, it literally blows your hair up, it has a drastic power decrease, but still runs fine other than the air sound thats louder than my exhaust... Please help me out, im stumped.

 

Is the whoosh hot and does it smell like exhaust? Fan hood (shroud) in place? Anything (pizza box, newspaper...) between the cooling fan and the radiator? Where exactly was your head (what engine bay quadrant) when that hurricane hit your hair?

 

I believe someone snuck under the car at midnight and added a turbo. is the alleged injector cooling fan operating all the time. only other thing that moves air under there is the main cooling fan. is your shroud in place?

 

yea must be the fan clutch locked up , or stuck full restricted.
I got one down my street you can here him coming 1/2 mile away.

 

I agree, the cooling fan clutch is locked up. The injector cooling blower doesn't blow enough air to accomplish it's intended task, much less work as a hair dryer.

 

looked up bad fan clutches on youtube, that's my problem. The fan is spinning at the same rpm as the motor. Thank you all for the support.
