I just bought my 84 AE a week ago now it is acting funny. It doesnt do it all the time either. It will either have all of these symptoms or none of them (seems to be a package deal i guess). It will start to idle really rough jumping from 600 - 800 and shaking the whole car and will sometimes die. Then when I start going it has very little power and hesitates alot. But if i get it up to 2500 or 3000 rpms it will have the power it should. Sometimes i will be stuck and it will not accelerate at all (even at WOT). But then I downshift and I can accelerate there. Then sometimes it idles fine with no hesitation. I am just wondering what you guys think of this. I am kinda thinking pluged cat... plugs up acts funny...stuff falls out acts normal. But please give suggestions.

Run this self diag. on your computer. When your done, personal message me with the codes you got. That is if you don't have a manual. If you have a manual (Chilton, Haynes, Mitchell), one of them can give you what the codes mean. The computer is located behind the kickpanel on the passenger side.
