Fuel Issue, Possible ECU?? NEED HELP
OK so i have an 86 n/a that has been with me for two years and now after the second motor went out i decided to buy a brand new one.... what can i say... 160,000 motors dont like to drift :/ who'd a known? ha
anyways... beside the point
I did the swap like normal only to run into a million problems.. I figured them all out except for one.
The fuel pump will prime on it own but will not run when cranked. It now has a toggle switch straight to the battery to force it to run and the car runs fine this way. What couls be possible issues/repairs?
It has... new regulator, new pump, new filter, no leaks, fuel guages work fine... Bad relay? ECU not working?
The only reason i bring up the ECU is because i tried to run a diagnosis and there are no lights on. ever. The car runs and drives fine with the fuel pump circuit bypassed...

its not "hacked" per say. i bypassed the wiring because it was not working on it own. i had to wire it top the battery. no cut wires... no sodder... just unplugged it from the trunk and have it two wires... positive to negative.

Just finished with a similar problem today. At first the pump wouldn't shut off, then wouldn't run, then it ran fine. Turned out to be a break in one of the ground wires in the plugs at the ECU. It would work or not works depending on how the ECU is positioned.
Just need to repair the wire and it should be fine.
My ECU also had no lights at one time, but I new it was good because I checked it in my other Z
