Charging problems?
Help! My 300 zx na starts and then dies after 15 seconds. just replaced battery, alternator 1month ago. Battery is good and even changed out the terminal connectors. One of the positive leads goes to the fusable link box, could it be that? another fuse? Tried to to disconnect the negative cable but couldn't keep engine running long enough.
Any ideas?

Re: Charging problems?
I've been driving my NA with a failing alternator for a few weeks now. I don't recommend it. But as long as your battery is fully charged, you should have no problems driving for an hour or so without an alternator. I only have a couple of miles to drive to get to work, so when I get home, I throw the battery back on the charger and hope the alternator works the next day.
I don't think your problem has anything to do with the charging system.
Oh yeah, and don't disconnect the battery while the car is running. The computer on fuel injected cars is very fragile to such events. It's one of the big warnings in the factory service manual. I'm pretty sure it's also mentioned in the owners manual.

No, I'm saying this doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the charging system. More like a fuel delivery problem. Check fuel pump, relay, etc.

Re: Charging problems?
Under the dash on the driver side. When you pull it off, it should give you a layout of the fuses on the back. I have a 87 turbo and can send you a diagram if you need one. When mine was loose, it would turn on and then just die, even if I tried to give it gas. If thats not it, I would not know what else it could be, you could make a makeshift fusable link, I did that - your local parts store can help you with that, but check the fuses under the dash first.

Re: Charging problems?
well fuses all check out. not sure about how to check relays though. would the ignition coil cause anyof this? the car again starts up and runs fine for about 10 seconds. when i try to re start it again it won't turn over. as far as the fuel system goes, should i check the pressure regulator first and work my way to the pump etc...
