TURBO CHARGING HELP!!!!!
I HAVE A 1983 280ZX NON-TURBO BUT I WANT TO INSTALL ONE. I CAN GET A USED TURBO KIT FROM AN 83' ZX, BUT I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN JUST TAKE THAT KIT OUT OF THE TURBOED Z AN BOLT IT RIGHT INTO MY ENGINE OR DO I NEED THE WHOLE ENGINE SWAP TO DO IT RIGHT. MY FRIEND SAID THE CAMS ARE TOTALLY DIFFRENT ON THE TURBO AND NON-TURBO SO I DONT KNOW IF IT CAN BE DONE. SEND BACK IF YOU KNOW PLEASE THANKS.

Re: TURBO CHARGING HELP!!!!!
Its not really the cams that are that much of a difference. For a turbo, you don't really want a long duration performance cam like you might buy for a non-turbo Z.
The main difference is the head itself and the pistons/rings. Also the computer, distributor, and fuel injectors. With that in mind, you defiantly should just swap the whole engine.
