Changed the color of my digital dash to red

Well, here it is! I took the whole dash apart, and replaced all the green filters with red ones. This is MUCH easier on my eyes at night. I couldn't get the outline on the pods red, but that's something not remotely easy to do, plus I like how the green and red look together!

It took about 6 hours total with blood and sweat to get the desired result, however, had I known exactly how much to use, it would have only taken 2 hours.

Here is a link to the filter I bought. One layer will achieve the look I have in the pictures. Matches the red interior PERFECTLY! http://www.ebay.com/itm/331458175643?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Looks super hectic mate. Makes me wish I had a digi dash, but it would be a major PITA to swap one in....

Oh yeah? Are you a member or the Z club in washington? I just bought mine, want to get it running again before I join. What year model color do you have? Is it by any chance red? I saw a red 87+ a while back in seattle!
Mine is a white 86 turbo

I don't know about any clubs here yet. Mine is a maroon '86 5-speed n/a. I'm about done with everything I need to do, all that's left for me is a turbo swap and either an oem radio or aftermarket

Did you have help getting the dash back in or did you heave it yourself?

I scratched the columns coming down the sides of the windshield a trifle when I was fitting mine back in. It is a good heave hoo to do it by one's self.

You bet it was a PITA to heave that darn thing, did it by myself. After about 4 times, I figured out exactly how to do it the easiest. You unbolt everything, then pull it up on top of the steering column, then angle the passenger side as far down as you can and it'll just slide right out! Mind you, I don't have a steering wheel puller, so I don't know if it would have been easier with it out of the way

Looks great man, did you leave the factory green filters in too?, or did you lay the red right ontop of the lcd?
I want to change mine to blue someday.

Took the green ones out. It would have been way too dark, or I would have had to use lighter reds. Not sure how that would have looked

The digital speedo is great very accurate, but the tach is kind of a joke

Interesting...what makes you say that? It's a visual representation of where most of your power is, isn't it?

Yea , .. but the tack graph seems to lag a second behind the actual engine rev's . harder to pick up what it is reading, to catch it before the redline .
I prefer a 5 " gauge.

If you think the z31 rpm tach is useless, you should see a s130 digital one! Slow as molasses, but I love it!!!

Both z31's Ive had were more responsive than the tach in my 2004 Impala.

That being said, it seems almost instant, maybe it's a problem with some of them?
