'88 Door Issues
I removed the door panel to address three issues; The door won't open, the window won't go up or down without assist, and the speaker sounds lousy.
Questions:
The door handle rod was not in the white plastic piece (the handle slide had been replaced earlier). When I went to put it in place the plastic broke. Is there a better fix for this?
The window regulator teeth look ok. Is the only solution to this to replace the regulator and or the motor? One or both? Cheapest and/or easiest way?
Not a question, but I may need a replacement speaker #.

Thanks, Larry

you can see if the dealer has parts. try the junkyard. window maybe dragging on the rubber that seals at the top. when I had a window replaced at a glass place the guy sprayed some magic fluid on the glass that made it operate closer to normal. Is it still slow with panel off? You might try jumping 12 volt straight to the motor and see if you have a low voltage issue. the window switches in the arm rests get tired. there is like a flat spring inside that doesn't make full contact sometimes. I had to bend it to make good contact. I just replaced my driver door panel and it made that window go down slow - okay on the way up. Just replace the speaker if the original with paper cone may be blown out. Replace both not just one. Or maybe you just need a unit made in this century. since you have the panel off you should be able to watch the mechanism work and determine if there are some tight spots.

My new used motor & regulator came today from Steve (the red Z in the classifieds) -Thanks Steve!

I plan on using lithium grease where I can. Is there any reason why NOT to put grease on the regulator gear teeth and flat surface? Both this one and my old did not have grease there and I wonder why. On both you can see where it has been metal to metal in between the teeth.

Any good lube for the window channel?
Thanks, Larry
