Hey guys, I just got a 1986 300zx NA (Which happens to be my first car). Since I got it, I've been having some issues with the car's electrical systems shutting off, and I've had to jump start it.

When it first started acting up, and all the electronics on the instrument panel would go out, I took it to Autozone where they tested the battery and said there wasn't enough power to fully test it.

So today, my car just didn't turn on. It will turn on if I put a jump start to it, but as soon as I disconnect it everything will cut off.

The man I bought it from said he bought a new battery. So I believe that the battery is good, but the alternator is out. Does anyone else know what it could be?

 

It's the alternator...standard test is to use a good battery and discinnect it after starting..if the alternator is good it should still run.
