Question 4 lug to 5 conversion... Parts needed??

So I'm having trouble finding a good thread discussing this (most of which turn out to be s30's) So my question is, what parts do i need to make this happen? Sorry if this has been covered already, i just need to find this out quick.

since you posted on the z31 section I have to assume you have one. which means you have a 84/85 n/a car. helps if you identiy the car you are asking about. find the parts in the junkyard is your best bet.

rogerz - Yeah I have an 84. Problem is I'm in Louisville, Ky, so the only z's around here are crushed. And the ones still around are rusted completely through, and all the good parts are gone. I've tried Pull a Part and I've attempted to special order these parts through Advance, O'Reilly, and AutoZone with no luck so far. I've had the car in my garage for about a year, and it was my daily for about 8 months. And now that I finally care about it theres nothing for me (maybe I just suck at Google, who knows.) Luckily I know a guy who deals with Strictly Z's so I'll try him tomorrow.

Oh, and another thing, 240sx's are EVERYWHERE here, any chance I could work with parts from one of those?

I gave them a call, seems like they're no longer. They're only interested in shipping the ENTIRE inventory. Ugh, this car is so difficult to find proper parts for. I really hope I never break anything else lol.

too bad they were a good source. another possible is buy a second car 86, 87. Maybe 88, 89 but they did change some things in those years. for the front you kinda need all the stuff that hangs off the control arm. Might as well change tie rod ends and ball joints and bushings while you are at it. I forget how much you need in the rear. hubs for sure. I think also there are adapter plates on the market. I know they make them for the zx which also has the four lug wheel.

Yeah that looks like my only option now. I think I might just hold off on it for a while. If I come across something, great, if now, whatev's. I'm redoing the 4 lug wheels black and chrome, and just touching up some interior right now anyways, so it's not super high on my priorities. Just though it would make a fun project before it get too involved in the rest. Anyways, thanks for the help, I'll be sure to refer to this site for any future problems/questions.

When I did my swap I forgot to mention that I switched out the rear control arms since I could never get the hubs out. It's much easier that way either way.

Ok, so here I am a month later with a set of 2" 4 to 5 lug adapters, and a set of cobra r wheels. Not yet installed but as soon as I get around to it I'll be sure to put the pics up. And I'm happy i get to keep my stock hubs so i can just unbolt everything and be on my way with 4 lug for the winter. Not sure how its going to turn out so wish me luck.
