thanks for the info and i think nismo is a freakin genius not entropy31 but thanks guys. and another question could i drop an sr20(or im not sure whats it's called) engine into my zx? cause i know they do it to the 240sz quite a bit could i do something like that to it or would it be better to just build upon what i have?

the z31 is a bit heavier than the 240sx, and the torque you lose by using a 4 cyl vs 6 cyl wold be missed. and dont get all pissy at me for telling the truth, it is far more practical to start with a turbo car. but whatever, it's your money.

if you want this particular car, find a VG30ET (motor from a turbo z31) and stick it in there. you can make plenty of power from that engine.

i bought a mostly complete turbo car with a blown motor for $100, i sold the dash wiring harness for $60 i got $70 for the body, i got a new set of tires for the z, plus every part required for the turbo swap, it is easy to start with just a turbo, but sometimes theres a better deal on a mint NA that just can't be passed up, i spent $900 on my POS broken and beetup z31 and i would never change a thing. (what car can you jump while still using it as a DD?)

a z31 NA or TURBO is still a cool car in my book. he could be out buying honda..

haha... actually Entropy, Hoov, and AZ-Zbum know a ton about Z31/Z32's as they have owned many. You should listen to them. And we've already had the SR20 debate... several times... actually, just about everything you can think of has already been discussed.

oh yea, the reason i also added the turbo timer on the list of stuff to pt in when you turbo a car, is so that he doesnt go to the track, then go into the pits and immediately turn off the motor..

personal opinion is that the SR is highly overrated. it has no business under the hood of a Z31. for the amount of money you'd spend on one, you could modify the stock vg and make far more power.

Z31's YES!.... fully agree. never seen AZ-Zbum in the Z32 sections though. and hoov is aight in the Z32 but he wants to drop a LS1 in one, sooo points lost in my book lol. and E is into the DD of the Z32 lol. actually he probably knows as much about teh Z32 as i do so its fair game. i only say that cause i have yet to see him say something about the Z32 i didnt know already nor not say something i do know already. lol.

just sayin! and yeah SR i dont know if its over rated, but it just got to much attention from the wrong group, but still not suited for a 300ZX, and barely for an S130. S30 it will do magnificently in though.

ok but i've been hearing about a new california law that they crush your car if you have unoffical performance parts, does that mean i have to buy all the parts from an offical place and have them install them also? cause thats alot of money i don't have

give it a few years, and california will make it illegal to drive anything but a Prius or SMART.

It would be smart to know the laws in your own state, especially when you are considering modifying your car.

how do they expect people to race legally when the nearest track is over 4 hours a day and cost's $300+ for only 5-10 laps on some track filled with civics?

the setup for drifting is much diff from drag and autocross.... and you need an LSD rear end to do proper drifting. not worth risking your car unless you got the money to break stuff. cause you will

well, it's not really a great car for drag either. it's a touring car. you can set it up for whatever you want though.

yeah go for autocross... safest racing you can do, unless you get the wrong lug nuts (poor RX-7). or track it. it would be your best bet. unfortunatly Z31's never got much after market attention. also, drag you can do whenever you want no matter what setup you have you just might get some good wheel spin through first and some second (if you got the power) and you can always drift for fun, but if you make it full drift thats all it will ever be.
