The drivers door switch no longer works, so everywhere I drive I hear betty talking about it. More importantly, the door light stays on when the car is off. I have no intentions of buying and installing a new switch, so I was wondering if there was a fuse or a way I could disable the switch. My drivers-floor fuse box never came with a cover so I have no idea which fuse goes to what. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Fix it right or don't fix it at all.

 

None of the junkyards here keep cars that were made before the year 2000, so I would have to either order it online or go to a nissan dealership. Investing anything more than a penny in this car I have decided is too much.

 

^^^ You should probably sell it and buy some roller skates then, because EVERY car requires some $$$investment$$$ to keep it running (oil, gas, tires, safety and emissions, registration, insurance), especially an older car... hopefully that's not Breaking News to you.

Where do you live? I bet I can find a Z31 near you if you live in the USA.

 

The car is on its last legs, I got it for free. I live in ann arbor, michigan. All of the junkyards around here turn the older cars into cubes, not many people drive older cars here, so the yards have no use for cars like these. All I wanted to know was if there was a fuse or something I could unplug so that the battery wouldnt drain whenever the car was off (besides unplugging the battery when not un use). Thats my biggest concern, the voice box is still annoying, but tolerable (for now...)

 

Just disconnect the door pin switch... either unbolt it if it has a screw, or reach inside the interior panel and disconnect the wires. Or, since you got the car for free, grab a pair of vice grips and just yank it out.

i have an 86 z31 didn't have switch in door. the radio had been wired straight to the battery i rewired to fuse box so radio turned on and off with key now the left door is open warning is going the whole time you are moving went and got switches and put them in and it didn't stop the warning any ideas
